The World’s Easiest Spanish Course! $7.29 This book is truly "The World's Easiest Spanish Course!" You are welcome to search the entire world and find one that is easier. It is a very clear fast and simple course! Extremely "user friendly!" And fun too! Ever since I was a very small child in first grade and all the while growing up spending thousands upon thousands of hours in classrooms I was always wondering in many of my lessons and books "Why do not they just teach me the simplest and fastest way possible? So I could learn the most!" Textbooks and teachers often referred to our lessons as "being mental exercises!" Well! They were mostly "Mental Confusion!" So this lifetime philosophy or belief led me to the writing of this book so people can learn Spanish the fastest and easiest way possible! This book is designed for anyone who knows absolutely nothing about Spanish or for someone who is very advanced! Yes! For example this book helps me improve my Spanish and I am already a very fluent native speaker! And it is super for all students from grade school (K-12) to university level students to help get them through their courses and make better grades! And helps make their language studies "More Fun!" Also this book can be used in reverse! Yes! For Spanish speakers to learn English! Subsequent publishings will be geared towards helping Spanish speakers learn English. Again as i Mentioned this book is great for kids! Both children and their parents can enjoy the playful nature of the book. Like playing word guessing games before bedtime. This book will give you the foundation and cornerstones to making learning Spanish fun fast and simple! Make this little book a part of your day and a part of your home for the entire family and everyone will be on their way to learning a new romance language! God bless and best wishes! Sincerely…g.Tullot |

The program’s title points both to the contrast between the Hispanic and American cultures as well as to the diversity within the Hispanic world. More than expanding students’ vocabulary, grammar, and cultural awareness beyond the basic survival level, the text offers the meaningful input, structured output, and communicative activities that are essential to the development of solid language skills. Conforming to the National Foreign Language Standards, Nuestras culturas takes into account the three communicative modes–interpretive, interactive, and presentational–as well as the 3Ps of culture–perspectives, practices, and products. Cultural themes are incorporated throughout each chapter, treating culture from both a social science as well as humanistic perspective. |

Spanish Eclecticism $58.94 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles Spanish Eclecticism was a movement among Spanish painters from 1845 to 1890. It was named after the tendency by artists to select from among multiple established styles of that era. A sensibility of relative renewal dominated the rest of Europe, while in Spain, Realism and Impressionism were slow to take hold. The movement is also said to be associated with the idea that models and innovations had run their course. Detractors consider it to be among the least brilliant periods in Spanish painting, in which there was a highly respectable level of skill, but no significant advancement of the form. This extends as far as the claim that practitioners used enormous canvases, of many meters in surface area, to give importance to something which didnt have any. Author: Surhone, Lambert M./ Timpledon, Miriam T./ Marseken, Susan F. 1001 Battles That Changed the Course of World History $16 A worthy addition to any history buff’s shelf, this visually arresting volume has a commanding grasp of more than 4,500 years of military history. On the eve of the 150th anniversary of the start of the American Civil War comes this latest addition to the 1001 series. It includes the seminal details about key battles that changed the course of history and shaped the political and cultural landscapes of our world—from the Battle of Troy and the Siege of Antioch to Gettysburg, Iwo Jima, and up to the present with battles of the Iraq War. 1001 Battles That Changed the Course of World History traces 4,500 years of armed conflict, from the small-scale battles of the ancient world (involving only a few hundred foot soldiers) to the epic military engagements of the American Civil War, the devastating world wars, and the smaller military actions of today. Military history from throughout the world is included, from the Mongols’ exploits in the Far East to the dramatic Spanish conquest of the Incas, and from the Boer War in South Africa to America’s engagements in Vietnam and Korea. Each entry describes the battle in full detail, including tactical moves, strategy, and military or technological breakthroughs, and reveals the part it played in the larger war or campaign as well as its wider political and social impact on society and history. The book is illustrated throughout with battle plans and maps, detail-rich medieval tapestries, dramatic commemorative paintings, and evocative photographs. |

Excerpt: David is a life-size marble sculpture by Gian Lorenzo Bernini . The sculpture was part of a commission to decorate the villa of Bernini’s patron Cardinal Scipione Borghese the Galleria Borghese where it still resides. It was completed in the course of seven months from 1623 to 1624.The subject of the work is the biblical David , about to throw the stone that will bring down Goliath , which will allow David to behead him. Relating to earlier works on the same theme, it is also revolutionary in its implied movement and its psychological depth. Background Between 1618 and 1625 Bernini was commissioned to decorate with sculptures the villa of his patron, Cardinal Scipione Borghese . In 1623 only yet 24 years old he was working on the sculpture of Apollo and Daphne , when for some reason he abandoned this project to start work on the David . According to records of payment, Bernini had started on the sculpture by mid1623, while his contemporary biographer, Filippo Baldinucci , states that he finished it in seven months. David was the last commission Bernini could take for Borghese. Even before it was finished, his friend and protector Maffeo Barberini was elected pope, as Pope Urban VIII . This would lead to several large-scale architectural projects for Bernini, particularly in connection with the St. Peter’s Basilica , and for several months even the Apollo and Daphne was left unfinished. Depiction of Bernini’s David in a detail from Giovanni Paolo Pannini ‘s Picture gallery with views of modern Rome (1759)Subject matter The sculpture shows a scene from the Old Testament First Book of Samuel . The Israelites are at war with the Philistines , whose giant warrior Goliath has challenged any of the Israeli soldiers to settle the conflict by single combat . The young shepherd David |

20th-Century Photographers: Robert Capa, Jean Weinberg, W. Hanselman, Pitch White $14.14 Purchase includes free access to book updates online and a free trial membership in the publisher’s book club where you can select from more than a million books without charge. Excerpt: Robert Capa (October 22, 1913 May 25, 1954), born Endre Ern Friedmann, was a Hungarian combat photographer and photojournalist who covered five different wars: the Spanish Civil War, the Second Sino-Japanese War, World War II across Europe, the 1948 Arab-Israeli War, and the First Indochina War. He documented the course of World War II in London, North Africa, Italy, the Battle of Normandy on Omaha Beach and the liberation of Paris. His action photographs, such as those taken during the 1944 Normandy invasion, portray the violence of war with unique impact. In 1947, Capa co-founded Magnum Photos with, among others, the French photographer Henri Cartier-Bresson. The organization was the first cooperative agency for worldwide freelance photographers. Born Endre Friedmann to Dezs and Júlia Friedmann on October 22, 1913 in Budapest, Hungary. Deciding that there was little future under the regime in Hungary, he left home at 18. Capa originally wanted to be a writer; however, he found work in photography in Berlin and grew to love the art. In 1933, he moved from Germany to France because of the rise of Nazism, but found it difficult to find work there as a freelance journalist. He adopted the name “Robert Capa” around this time because he felt that it would be recognizable and American-sounding since it was similar to that of film director Frank Capra. (In fact, “cápa” is a Hungarian word meaning ‘shark’.) Loyalist Militiaman at the Moment of Death, Cerro Muriano, September 5, 1936From 1936 to 1939, he was in Spain, photographing the horrors of the Spanish Civil War, along with Gerda Taro, his companion and professional photography partner, and David Seymour. In 1938, he traveled to the Chinese city of Wuhan to document the resistance to the Japane… More: |
